Sun Valley Animal Shelter
Our mission is to provide a safe and loving environment for homeless dogs and cats, offering them the care and attention they deserve until they find their forever homes. We strive to collaborate with local organizations that share our dedication to helping animals in need and working towards finding sustainable solutions to pet overpopulation issues.

Sun Valley Animal Shelter, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operating a No-Kill shelter in Glendale, Arizona, serving the western Phoenix metropolitan area since 1991. Founded by Sun City area residents, the shelter provides adoption opportunities for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. The facility, established in 1995, can accommodate over 70 dogs and 70 cats. Sun Valley Animal Shelter relies on adoption fees, membership dues, donations, and bequests for funding as it receives no government support.
SVAS is a rescue organization dedicated to saving cats and dogs in need of a permanent home. We rescue animals, provide them with necessary medical care including vaccines, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and disease testing. Our priority is to ensure that each animal receives the best care possible while they are at our shelter until they are adopted. We believe in enriching the lives of our animals by giving cats room to roam freely and providing dogs with ample playtime in yards with other dogs. Our ultimate goal is to find loving homes for all the animals under our care.

Sun Cities Animal Rescue (SCAR) was founded in 1991 by Karin Brittin and Virginia Hall in Sun City, Arizona. Initially focused on rescuing lost cats, the organization expanded to include abandoned dogs as well. A group of dedicated volunteers raised funds to build a shelter and established a network of foster homes to care for animals until they could be adopted. With the support of a local bank, SCAR was able to complete construction of their facilities in 1995.
The Sun Valley Animal Shelter, formerly known as a small rescue operation, now helps over 1,000 cats and dogs find homes annually. With the help of volunteers, the shelter is able to provide exceptional care to the animals and facilitate successful adoptions.
