Events and Fundraising: Our shelter is always in need of helper bees during events. If you have previous experience in fundraising please mention it during orientation or in your email, we would appreciate all the help we can get.
Volunteers help keep our shelter clean and sanitary, by cleaning the yards and kennels throughout the day although they spend most of their day interacting with the animals. Our amazing volunteers play a huge role in socializing and exercising our dogs. As an SVAS volunteer, you are welcome to either walk the dogs around our beautiful court yard, or spend time together in our various play-yards. Socialization is one of the most important activities a volunteer can do. After all they can never get enough of the one-on-one humane contact they enjoy.
At SVAS we love to have fun and provide the dogs a positive experience while they are with us. During our hot Arizona summers our volunteers help assist our staff with playgroups complete with pools, splash pads, and refreshing summer treats. Come spend some time with our four-legged friends. You won’t regret it!
Come spend your mornings or afternoons, in our clean, comfortable cattery. Each day begins with a special breakfast treat for all of our wonderful cats. Cleaning is light, but thorough in our adult and kitten community rooms. Volunteers clean litter boxes, food and water dishes, and make sure every cat has a soft blanket to lie on. Laundry and dishes are done throughout the day. Afternoon volunteers keep the cattery fresh and clean, greet visitors and other tasks. There’s always something to do.
Don’t forget to play and cuddle with your favorite cat. Teaser toys, ping pong balls and laser lights keep our cats active and alert. Or just spend some time with that special cat curled up on your lap.
