How to Donate
Sun Valley Animal Shelter is a 501©3 non-profit animal shelter. We receive no federal or state funding. We must rely on generous donations, revenue from our thrift store, and fund raising events to meet our operating costs.

How much should you give? 

  • A $20.00 donation will sponsor an animal for a month
  • A $40.00 donation will neuter/spay a cat
  • A $60.00 donation will spay/neuter a dog. 
  • $50.00 will cover the necessary vaccinations and testing we provide
  • A generous $100.00 donation will cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, and microchipping a puppy or kitten.

SVAS Sponsorship Program

If you aren’t able to adopt a companion animal but you still care about saving lives and reducing euthanasia, the sponsorship program may be just for you!

Our sponsorship program offers you the opportunity to participate in the care of one of our dogs or cats.  When you choose to sponsor an animal, we will select a specific dog or cat for you and send you a picture and any information we have about it.   You will be updated if your dog or cat is adopted, and another animal will be selected for you.

Your choices for sponsorship are:
  • $10.00 per month - ($120.00 a year)*
    • Feed one dog or cat premium pet food
  • $20.00 per month - ($240.00 a year)*
    • Feed one dog or cat premium pet food and, immunize and microchip one dog or cat
  • $30.00 per month - ($360.00 a year)*
    • Feed one dog or cat premium pet food and, immunize and microchip one dog or cat and, help towards spay or neuter of one dog or cat.
*Costs are based on an average dog or cat.

SVAS Memorial Progam 

A thoughtful way to remember loved ones, and to help our animal friends at the same time is through a gift to SVAS.  Gifts may be extended in memory of a loved one, in honor of a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, retirement, holiday remembrance, etc., or as a special way to say “Thank You”.

We will promptly notify whomever you designate that this gift has been received from you, for the occasion you have specified.  The amount you give is confidential and will appear only on our acknowledgment to you.

Bashas' Thanks A Million 

  Bashas’ is proud to be the hometown grocer for families throughout our state.  They are offering the Thanks a Million for Friends and Neighbors program, where raising money for Sun Valley Animal Shelter is as easy as grocery shopping at Bashas’.

How does it work?
  • The 2007-2008 Thanks A Million program begins September 1, 2008 and will run through March 31, 2009.
  • Please ask a Bashas’ cashier to link your group ID number (23517) to your Bashas’ Thank You Card on or after September 1.  You only have to link your number once and the link will remain active until March 31.


Bashas’ will donate 1 percent of the total sales linked to Sun Valley Animal Shelter, up to a $2,500 donation.  Thanks to everyone who used the program last year.

  • SVAS’ group identification number is 23517.
This is an easy way to see that Sun Valley Animal Shelter gets a large donation to make lives better for our companion animals, our orphans of the desert.
